Local dance teacher involved in benefit
Naperville dance instructor Lizzie Mackenzie, one of the teachers at the Steps Dance Center on the outskirts of the Fox Valley Mall, is among the professionals putting final touches on preparations for Dance for Life, an Aug. 17 benefit in Chicago that will support prevention and treatment for HIV and AIDS.
A collaboration of five leading Chicago dance companies, the evening will include eight performances beginning at 8 p.m. at the Auditorium Theater, 50 E. Congress Parkway. A gala reception set for 5 p.m. will precede the presentation in the international ballroom of the nearby Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave.
Tickets for the performance range from $50 to $75. Admission to the reception, priced from $200 to $500, includes priority seating at the show, which is the Midwest’s largest performance-based HIV/AIDS benefit. Tickets can be purchased at www.danceforlifechicago.com or by calling 312-922-5812.
