Petition drive to oust D203 chief under way

Updated: January 17, 2012 8:04PM

Not happy with proposed boundary changes for Naperville Unit District 203 schools, one group is circulating an online petition calling for the removal of Superintendent Mark Mitrovich.

Saying that Mitrovich has a lack of understanding of Naperville values and is motivated by a personal agenda, Jason Moede’s petition has 50 signatures from those wishing to oust Mitrovich.

Particularly upset are parents whose children attend Highlands Elementary.

The proposed maps released by the District Friday offer three scenarios, two of which call for the transfer of 176 Highlands students to Maplebrook or Meadow Glen.

The third map calls for 147 Highlands students to transfer.

While Mill Street and Beebe will see significant numbers of students transfer, Highlands’ parents have called for picketing the district’s Jan. 18 special meeting on boundary changes.

Most of the communications received by the Sun have stressed the District’s professed in the commitment in the process to disrupt neighborhoods as little as possible, the Highlands’ parents especially upset on this point.
