Naperville North show choir takes top award in competition

The Naperville North show choir took the top award in a winter competition over the weekend. Read the full release below.

The Naperville North High School Show Choir ensembles “ Entourage” and “High Heeled Harmony” both won the Grand Champion award for their divisions at the Belmont Winter Spectacular 2014 Show Choir competition this past weekend.  Directed and Choreographed by Vocal Music Director and Instructional Coordinator for the Fine Arts, Mr. Nicholas P. Janssen, and Ms. Rachel Shershen, the ensembles outperformed more than 12 participating Show Choir ensembles from other Mid-West high schools in the United States.
 
NNHS Show Choirs also won top awards in various important categories. “High Heeled Harmony” was awarded Grand Champion, Best Choreography and Best Instrumental in the Ladies Division. “Entourage” snatched the Grand Champion, Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Instrumental prizes for the Large Mixed Group Division. This was the first competition of the season for both NNHS ensembles.
 
On February 8th, the show choirs will face fierce competition at the Dekalb Show Choir Invitational 2014 at DeKalb High School in Waterloo, Indiana; and again at the Glenwood The Event (Day Two) 2014 competition at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois on March 1st.
 
The extra-curricular Show Choir program at Naperville North High School comprise a highly selective and competitive ensemble of singer-dancers who perform in choral concerts, Show Choir festivals, clinics and community performances throughout the year.  Since its inception in 2012, the NNHS Show Choir program Entourage and High Heeled Harmony ensembles have earned recognition in the Show Choir community.
