Naperville has announced the appointment of two individuals to act as liaisons between the city and Chinese and Indian communities. Read the full press release below:
The City of Naperville is proud to announce the recent appointment of two Naperville residents as ambassadors to the Chinese and Indian communities residing within the City. Resident Bill Liu will serve as the Chairman of Chinese Community Outreach, and Krishna Bansal will serve as Chairman of Indian Community Outreach.
"When we looked at the diversifying demographics of Naperville, we noticed that almost 12 percent of our citizens were Indian or Chinese," Mayor A. George Pradel said. "It is so important to make sure all of our cultures are connected within Naperville and that we embrace our unique backgrounds and use them to help make Naperville the wonderful City it is. I hope that this pilot program of outreach to these communities grows and flourishes and brings us all closer together."
Liu specializes in helping U.S. companies enter the Chinese market as well as assisting Asian companies who want to enter the U.S. market. He is currently a consultant and partner at NaviAsia and has consistently generated more than 80 percent of NaviAsia's business, resulting in him being named Crain's Chicago Business' 2006 Top China Consultant.
Liu earned an MBA in Marketing, Finance and International Business from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was elected to the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and is a registered professional engineer. He sits on several boards and is an adjunct faculty member at several academic institutions.
Bansal is an entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in business, finance and technology. He is the President and CEO of Q1 Technologies, Inc., a technology and services company that he founded in 2002. With offices across the United States and Asia, his company has helped educational institutions, governments and fortune 500 corporations with complex technology and improving global operations.
Bansal holds a master's degree in Business Administration, a postgraduate diploma in International Finance, an undergraduate degree in Business & Accounting and multiple technology certifications. He resides in Naperville with his wife and two daughters.
Liu and Bansal will help City staff and the community as a whole embrace and foster connections within the Chinese and Indian communities. In addition, they will help encourage members of these communities to be actively involved in civic life and understand the structure and function of Naperville's government. Liu and Bansal will also have the opportunity to assist with local andinternational economic development opportunities and cultural outreach in the business sector.
