Neuqua Valley High School junior Kanghee (Wendy) Lee recently received an honorable mention award for her submission in a national writing contest. Read the full press release below:
Kanghee (Wendy) Lee, 16, a junior at Neuqua Valley High School, was awarded an honorable mention for her story, Wed-nes-day, in Columbia College Chicago’s Fiction Writing Department 2013 Young Authors Award. High school students in grades ninth through twelfth submitted original works of fiction, creative non-fiction and short plays.
The national writing contest, held since 1995, was open to all ninth through twelfth grade students. This year, more than 1,200 students submitted work in all three categories and submissions were judged by short story writers, novelists, teachers, editors, playwrights and journalists.
