Each week, we get to know a different student from an area high school. This week we talk with Saaya Nath from Waubonsie Valley High School.

Q: What are your post high school plans?

A: After high school I plan on attending some university (still unknown, unfortunately) and as of now, obtaining a degree in industrial engineering with a minor in business. Eventually, I want to use my engineering skills to pursue my career as an entrepreneur.

Q: What do you like to do on the weekends?

A: On the weekends I love spending time with my family and friends or just relaxing at home!

Q: What is your favorite subject and why?

A: I couldn’t tell you why, but math is my favorite subject. I guess I love numbers and it’s always been a subject that came quick to me.

Q: Who has influenced you the most in your educational career and why?

A: It’s hard to name just one person who has influenced my academic success, especially because throughout high school I have been fortunate enough to build relationships with so many encouraging, inspiring and passionate people, including Mrs. Haake, Mrs. Roderique, Mr. Penley, Mr. Dwyer and of course my counselor, Mrs. Leonard — all who truly care about their students and always pushed me to reach my potential. But most of all, my grandpa has been the one who has always believed in me and inspired me to dream big.

Q: What is the one thing someone wouldn’t expect to know about you?

A: I like to bake.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

A: Chicago Bulls!

Q: What is the one website that you have to visit every day?

A: Even though Facebook isn’t really used anymore, it’s kind of a go-to thing for me when I don’t want to use homework.

Q: What fictional character or celebrity would you most like to be friends with and why?

A: As cliché as it might be, I love Harry Potter and everything about him.

Q: If your group of friends were a species from the Star Wars universe, which would it be and why?

A: I couldn’t answer this considering I’ve never seen Star Wars, but I do know I have a very unique group of friends consisting of some of the greatest people you’ll ever meet.

Q: What superpower would be most useful to you in your daily life and why?

A: The ability to fly. There are so many things I try to do in a day and so many places I wish I could be that it’d be nice to be able to get to places instantly by flying.
