Men’s Basketball: NCC’s Gamble named Player of the Week

North Central’s Landon Gamble, a junior from Joliet Township, is the CCIW Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 11-17.
Gamble earned the distinction for the second time this season after leading the Cardinals to an 88-61 victory over North Park at Gregory Arena on Saturday. He scored a season-high 26 points on 11 of 12 shooting as North Central improved to 12-0 at home this season. His .917 shooting percentage is the fourth-best single-game mark in school history and the Cardinals’ team field-goal percentage of .686 was the second-best ever at North Central.
Gamble has averaged 14.4 points per game this season for the Cardinals and currently leads the CCIW in field-goal percentage (.594). He has been a First Team All-CCIW selection and earned All-Midwest Region honors each of the past two seasons.
In addition, North Central rose three spots to No. 5 among Division III programs in this week’s Top 25 Poll released by D3hoops.com.
The Cardinals (21-3, 10-3 CCIW) host No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan (21-3, 13-0) in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday. Tipoff at Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
