Local Briefs: NCC’s Raridon CCIW Co-Coach of Year

NCC basketball’s Raridon earns conference honors
The North Central Cardinals were well represented on the CCIW All-Conference Men’s Basketball Team announced this week.
Coach Todd Raridon was named Co-Coach of the Year along with Greg Giovanine of Augustana.
Those two teams finished as conference co-champions with 11-3 records.
Landon Gamble, a freshman forward from Lockport Township, represented North Central on the all-conference first team.
Derek Raridon, a sophomore swing player from Neuqua Valley, earned a spot on the second team for North Central, while the Cardinals’ Brian Evans, a senior guard from Glenbard North, was named all-conference third team.
On the women’s side, North Central’s Jackie Errico, a senior swing player from Marian Catholic, was named first-team all-conference.
NCTV17 to broadcast North Central basketball game
The North Central College men’s basketball team has earned their spot and the home court advantage in the CCIW tournament.
NCTV17 will have a full crew at the Gregory Arena in Merner Field House tonight at 7:30 to broadcast the game LIVE. NCTV17 sportscasters Alex Symonds and Ben Hutchison will be in the booth.
The telecast is produced in partnership with North Central College and can be watched live on Channel 17 in Naperville or online at NCTV17.com through simultaneous video streaming.
The game will also be re-aired throughout the week; check the weekly schedule for airtimes at NCTV17.com.
The CCIW Tournament Championship game will be played Saturday at 7:30 PM; if the Cardinals advance to the final game, NCTV17 will broadcast that game live, too.
Former Batavia prep star transferring to NCC
Former Batavia High School football and track star Bai “J.R.” Kabba has transferred from the University of Illinois to North Central College.
Kabba, a 2009 graduate of Batavia High, was at Illinois on a full scholarship to run track and field. He transferred to non-scholarship North Central, a NCAA Division III athletic program, to play football and run track.
