North Central College men’s basketball player Landon Gamble has been honored with a selection to the 2010-2011 All-Midwest Region Third Team, as selected by D3hoops.com.
Gamble led the Cardinals in scoring (14.1 points per game), field goal percentage (.569) and blocked shots (18) this season while ranking second on the team in rebounding (5.2 rebounds per game). He led the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin in field goal percentage this season and ranked second in the CCIW in points per game in conference play (17.8).
The only freshman selected to any of the three All-Midwest Region Teams released by D3hoops.com, Gamble was also named the Midwest Region Rookie of the Year. Only two other freshmen, Tyler Hammond of Marietta College (Ohio) and Ryan Sheehan of Nichols College (Mass.), received All-Region honors this season.
By virtue of his All-Region status, Gamble will be on the ballot for D3hoops.com All-America honors. The All-America Teams will be announced on Saturday as part of D3hoops.com’s coverage of the NCAA Division III Final Four.
Gamble’s selection as Rookie of the Year gives the award to a North Central player for the second straight season. Derek Raridon received the honor last season.
North Central finished the 2010-2011 season with an overall record of 15-11, going 11-3 in CCIW competition to earn a share of the CCIW Championship and win the program’s first conference title in 21 years.
