Benet coach Peter Paul admits that if Illinois ever adopted the old Iowa-style of six-on-six basketball with three girls playing offense on one side of the court and three girls playing defense on the other side, the six girls he put on the floor would all want to play offense.
“This team just loves to play offense,” he said. “We try very, very hard to convince them that if the shots aren’t falling, defense is going to be the norm. But they like the offensive end.”
The offensive end was good to Benet Thursday in Hinsdale. From the 6:25 mark of the second quarter to the 3:32 mark of the third, the Redwings outscored Hinsdale Central 34-16 to wipe out a four-point deficit and build a 14-point lead en route to a 64-55 victory.
