With a back line that has three Division I players in Rachele Armand, Jenna Romano and Rachael Brots and an Olympic Development Program goalie in sophomore Emma Rigby, Waubonsie Valley boasts one of the toughest defenses in the area. The Warriors demonstrated just how tough by edging rival Metea Valley 1-0 on Friday to win the Class 3A Metea Valley Regional championship.

Boys Track: Bransby a triple winner for Naperville Central

Naperville Central’s Sam Bransby won the 400-meter dash and then the 200-meter dash at the Joliet West Sectional on Thursday. Then Bransby did the unthinkable and came back after one slow heat of the 1,600 relay and ran the anchor leg of Central’s 1,600 relay, bringing home the baton in second place for an automatic state berth in 3:21.17 behind Michael Jopes, Kevin Kulling and Carson Hassler.
