Last season, TJ Scruggs turned in a productive year for Neuqua Valley, but was understandably overshadowed by Joey Rhattigan's 2,226 yards and 33 touchdowns. Now after an extensive offseason workout regimen, Scruggs is ready to step into the limelight.
When you work out 13 times per week, you’re not superstitious.
You’re extremely passionate about your football career.
Neuqua Valley senior TJ Scruggs played in the shadow of standout Joey Rhattigan last year. Scruggs gained 433 yards and scored eight touchdowns, but those numbers were modest compared to Rhattigan’s 2,226 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Now with Rhattigan gone, it’s time for Scruggs to shine along with Nolan Dean and Illinois-bound receiver Mikey Dudek, as well as a new offensive line and quarterback.
“[Scruggs] is very strong and has worked extremely hard to get to where he’s at now,” Neuqua Valley coach Bill Ellinghaus said. “He’s got a fullback mentality with tailback speed and that bodes well because I like to pound the football when I can.”
