They don’t hand out outstanding wrestler awards to just anybody, so an individual usually needs to do something special to earn one.

Like, say, beat a defending tournament champion.

Waubonsie Valley’s Mitch Kroening walked away with the Jeff Mirabella Award at this year’s Upstate Eight Conference tournament thanks to a 12-6 title-match decision at 182 pounds over Neuqua Valley’s Connor Swier.
