This year’s Minnesota State Fair will run from August 22 through September 2, over the Labor Day Weekend. In addition to agricultural exhibits, the fair will feature 400 free concerts throughout its run, as well as grandstand headliners such as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sheryl Crow, Depeche Mode and Tim McGraw. And as always, delicious fair food is available from hundreds of vendors—don’t miss these five must-try foods when you visit the fair!
The Original Minneapple Pie
These delicious, individually sized deep-fried pies have been a staple at the fair for several years. If apple isn’t your favorite, try the new Minnepumpkin pie. Both are served with a generous scoop of rich vanilla ice cream.
This artisan wurst is homemade at Sausage by Cynthia, and seasoned with a special blend of nutmeg, caraway, sage, and bourbon whiskey. Definitely not your average brat on a bun!
Not your typical caramel corn, this cosmic treat is made with super cool liquid nitrogen. The sweet and salty flavors combine with a crispy texture and a cold serving temperature to create a popcorn eating experience unlike any other.
Fried Pickles ‘n’ Chocolate
Deep fried foods are a classic state fair staple, but you won’t find anything quite this exotic outside of the Minnesota State Fair. These breaded, deep-fried pickles are dusted with powdered sugar and served with a side of chocolate sauce.
What do you get when you cross a French croissant with an American doughnut? The delicious Dough-sant, a buttery, flaky, deep-fried confection unlike any pastry you’ve ever tasted before.
